When I needed to get my restroom handicap accessible for my son. I looked around and got estimates. I needed my existing tile to be knocked down. Old cast iron tub removed. A drain for shower. Plumbing work. Sheet rock taken down. After that I needed insulation, backer board, and then tile installed. For all that work professionals were going to charge me 3,500-4,000 plus material. I could not afford all of that. It would have been 6,000 or more for material and the labor. So I ended up doing most of the demolition myself. My good friend did the plumbing. My fiancÚ, me, and my good friend did the insulation, backer board, concrete the floor. Now I need a slope on the floor and tile installed. Should be cheaper then 3,500 right? Well this handyman was going to charge me 3,500 to do the tile!! Really? I did not think it was reasonable at all. He said it was a custom job and I did need it asap. But come on really. It disappoints me that people over charge. I will never call this handyman again!!!!
